I use an antivirus program because they are too expensive.
No, this is not a statement of my humble self, it is the engraving on a tombstone, where a computer is buried dead.
... And it is not a true statement.
There are free versions of antivirus software packages are (and) get some free trials, well worth looking forward in. AVG has both free and paid versions of their antivirus software, as well asPCTools. To find more, search for "free anti-virus software, and you will find hundreds of results. But remember the old adage: There is no such thing as a free lunch.
Bigger names like Norton and McAfee have free trial versions of their software. This was may very well be enough to convince you to pay their fees - especially if you host your question viruses been found.
And I personally prefer to pay for one of the big name packages. Call me insecurre, but I feel safer with aBrand names. Yes, the prices seem expensive, but ask yourself the following questions:
How often do you use the Internet?
How often do you read e-mail?
How often do you use a social network like Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, etc.?
How often have you click on links in any of the above?
Every single time you one of these, you are at risk of some forms of malware. If it's the cost of antivirus software to break through the number of times you are atRisk, you only pay a few pennies for the safety of the attitude of these viruses, phishing, worms, Trojan horses, (lions and tigers and bears ... oh my!) In check.
So, if you do not have antivirus software yet, it would probably be a good idea to check a too. And now, with the holidays fast approaching, the need is greater than ever before.
Stay safe!
